Cheap Lease Deals Propel Audi e-tron Sales in Q1 2021
Audi of America announced today that their all-electric e-tron SUV saw record sales during the first quarter of 2021. The company sold a total of 3,474 e-tron and e-tron Sportback models in Q1 2021 — an increase of 103% over last year.
The strong sales performance of Audi e-tron, which otherwise starts at a hefty $66,995, can largely be attributed to the strong lease deals being offered in March 2021.
Last month, the Leasehackr Forum was a frenzy of Audi e-tron activity, with sellers posting incredible deals and consumers sharing their lease-hacking exploits. Leasehackr Scores in excess of 12 years were common.
In March 2021, Audi was offering a $7,500 lease credit (a full pass-through of the federal electric vehicle tax credit), a $4,000 national incentive, $1,750 regional cash (varies), and a $2,000 Costco member-only incentive.
Additionally, the Money Factor was just .00074 (1.78% APR), which could be lowered to 0.00024 (0.6% APR) with Multiple Security Deposits.
Every lease deal varies based on annual mileage, location, vehicle options, and taxes, but sub-$500 per month leases on e-trons were not uncommon.
The lease programs for April 2021 have since taken a beating, with reduced incentives, a higher Money Factor, and much less inventory. But it’s possible that programs may change for the better in the coming months, when we approach the end of the second quarter of 2021.
To be well-positioned should the Costco member-only incentive return, it’s a good idea to maintain an active Costco membership, as you must be a member prior to the promotion period starting.
